Deluged as I have been by expressions of rapture from Professor Trellis of North Wales and his case worker, and further and notwithstanding heretofore inasmuch as which, I wish to announce that the Maison Des Girrafes will be holding an open-house over the weekend of the 21st to the 24th May, to coincide with the Cromer "Crab ":http://www.edp24.co.uk/content/edp24/news/story.aspx?brand=EDPOnline&category=News&tBrand=EDPOnline&tCategory=xDefault&itemid=NOED26%20Jan%202010%2017%3A13%3A13%3A023 Festival.

CISB’10 is an un-un-conference, meaning that not only will we have no agenda, we’ll not even have any pretence of having one. So we can do all sorts of things or nothing at all. Among the attractions at this year’s meeting in which people might or might not participate include

  • some light rockpooling and perhaps some marine biology (venue: Maison Des Girrafes Marine Biology Field Centre). Bring buckets, spades, enamel trays, pocket microscopes, hand lenses, field guides, unicycles;
  • field trips to wherever you want to go. The cliffs at Hunstanton, the beach at Holkham, scouting for samphire (though possibly it’ll be a little early) at Stiffkey marshes, and so on and so forth (limited transport offered by Caroline the eVolvo).

Mr G. S. of Glasgow tells me that he’ll probably book his accommodation at last year’s watering hole, the Cliftonville hotel, so if others follow that could be a convenient base.
I regret that accommodation options at the Maison Des Girrafes have become limited since we got more chickens to fill the spare chicken coop, and Heidi the Dog has commandeered the sofa.
Do let me know if you’re coming – looking forward to seeing you. Cromer au Printemps!
